I remember the first time my shaman learned earth shock. It was amazing. I thought to myself, I can kill my opponent and I could interrupt his or her spells at the same time? Shamans are so freak’n l33t. Anyone who plays another class is clearly a n00b!
Looking at the Earth Shock TCG card, we see that the game effect does an excellent job of representing the in-game ability. It has the flexibility of a standard burn spell that can target either an ally or a hero, with the additional benefit of a built-in interrupt.
Earth Shock provides players with an interesting play tension regarding how and when they use the card. As the game evolves, players can adjust their strategies by choosing either to control the board through ally removal or wait for a key moment to interrupt an opponent’s ability and burn him or her for 4 in the process.
Earth Shock will find a natural home in many of the established Shaman decks. Totem cards offer a lot of power and versatility, but they usually require a strong defensive component to keep them safe while they do their work. Whether used to remove annoying allies or to interrupt pesky removal abilities, the flexibility of Earth Shock is sure to reinvent the modern Totem deck.
That’s when I realized that first impressions are usually the best. I should have followed my instincts and tried harder to win the argument in my head. Never let the imaginary man get you down! To this end, I say to you . . .
